Road-Tests.com came into being as a result of a chance conversation between Graeme Perry, FleetWorks Limited Director, and the then Fleet Sales Manager of Holden New Zealand, Glenn Flinkenberg. HNZ was looking for "...an honest and critical.." report on their vehicles; a style which appeared, at that time, to be difficult to find.

The concept of writing reports from a buyers perspective was born, followed by the idea of using multiple drivers to provide their views on the vehicle being tested.

The first ever report was undertaken on the then recently launched Holden Vectra CD. From that point on Road-Tests.com has grown into a veritable treasure trove of evaluation and information, now freely available to anyone-not just the Motor Industry and their fleet clients.

As Road-Tests.com has evolved the process of gathering volunteers to drive cars became selective; unlike the early days when the queue was round the block to be involved. Today’s reviews are down to individual drivers, the once close knit participants (all volunteers) have moved on, and finding replacements became somewhat of a challenge. The Rod-Tests.com concept, lasting over 4 years, was – and is – unique to New Zealand motoring writing.

Over the past few years Road-Tests.com has developed and grown. In 2009 the site passed to new owners, Motomedia, who recently bowed out.

The result is that for the second time in a couple of years ownership of Road-Tests.com has again changed. Respected motoring writer Bill Green, in partnership with Graeme Perry, taking over from MotoMedia and is the new Editor.

The story will continue, and maybe, just maybe some of the old favourites will find their way back onto the site.
